South Africa begins space regulation law repeal

South Africa’s Department of Trade and Industry has given notice of its intent to repeal the Space Affairs Act.

It told parliament’s portfolio committee on trade and industry of its intention on 20 June.

The 1993 act was one of the last to be signed into law by the former National Party government. It was amended in 1995 and reviewed in 2015. It regulates space affairs in the country, including licensing and registration of technologies.
