University of Cape Town unprepared for drought

Looming water shortages are worrying academics at the University of Cape Town, who fear the city’s dwindling water reserves could have devastating consequences for the institution.

UCT created a task team in June to manage the institution’s water resources. Its immediate concern is to reduce water demand, map water reticulation system and meters, and improve rainfall collection and storage capacity.
