South Africa needs action plan for ‘fracking’ research

South Africa urgently needs a research plan to inform the country’s burgeoning exploration of shale gas, a government science official has said.

Phil Mjwara, director-general at the Department of Science and Technology, set out the case for such a plan at a two-day event held in Port Elizabeth from 31 August to 1 September.
