Final white paper due early 2019, Mjwara tells MPs

South Africa is forging ahead with its first new science policy in more than 20 years and its formal adoption is only months away, a government official has told Parliament.

Phil Mjwara, director-general of the Department of Science and Technology, said his department hopes to finalise comments it has received on the white paper by the end of November. After that, it will be sent to the minister of science and technology, Mmamoloko Kubayi-Ngubane, for consideration.
