The South African Medical Research Council has announced a partnership with a Swiss foundation for novel diagnostics research into paediatric tuberculosis.
The partnership will involve a clinical trial in South Africa, funded by the SAMRC, of a disposable molecular TB testing kit developed by the Geneva-based Foundation for Innovative New Diagnostics (FIND).
The SAMRC says the technology promises quick and easy detection of TB in children and babies, using stool samples.
