The University of Cape Town has partnered with two malaria research bodies in drug discovery and training.
The five-year deal is funded by the partners, Merck Global Health Institute and the Medicines for Malaria Venture, a malaria research non-profit.
Merck will provide close to 100,000 compounds from its corporate arm to the partners to be tested for anti-malarial properties. Merck and MMV researchers will provide support to their partners at UCT.
