SA parliamentary science committee backs SKA Observatory

Important that country is one of the first to ratify establishing treaty, says chairman

South Africa’s parliamentary portfolio committee on higher education, science, and technology has officially approved the establishment of the Square Kilometre Array Observatory.

The committee approved the convention to establish the SKA Observatory on 9 October. The SKAO is an international body that will govern the construction and operation of the SKA, which will be the world’s most powerful radio telescope.
