South African parliament ratifies SKA convention

But EFF denounces new body and says its adoption is ‘submitting to imperialism’

South Africa’s parliament has ratified the convention to establish the Square Kilometre Array Observatory, making good on a vow to get it done before the end of the year.

The National Assembly debated the convention, which establishes the SKAO as an intergovernmental body, on 7 November.
