Open science policy in the works for South Africa

Details are sketchy, but work has begun

South Africa’s Department of Science and Innovation is developing a national open science policy.

“The DSI has a working group as well as an advisory board, whereby the DSI is setting up and drafting an open science policy for South Africa,” said Susan Veldsman, the director of the scholarly publishing programme at the Academy of Science of South Africa, in a 20 October webinar, part of the academy’s Open Access Week.
