South Africa’s Naledi Pandor says her comments were “misunderstood”
Naledi Pandor, a former science and technology minister in South Africa, has apologised to people in the arts and creative industries after saying that Africa needs more people trained in science and technology—not art.
Her comments were part of an interview with the US-based Council on Foreign Relations in September last year, a clip of which surfaced recently. In the interview, Pandor spoke about the “critical skills” needed on the African continent.
