New Legacy Fund aims to revive university’s decaying infrastructure “one brick at a time”

The University of the Western Cape in South Africa launched a fundraising initiative on 25 May to support infrastructure development on its campuses.

The UWC Legacy Fund will accept contributions from alumni, students, staff and the general public. It aims to raise R200 million (US$10m) by 2033, with a long-term goal of reaching R1 billion in time for the institution’s 100th anniversary in 2060.
