Nigeria’s National Universities Commission is offering travel grants to scientists who want to conduct research or be trained in biomedical research at Bio Ventures for Global Health in the US.
Julius Okojie, the executive secretary of NUC, says the grants will be provided through the Tertiary Education Trust Fund to equip researchers with the skills to deal with outbreaks of diseases such as Ebola.
The officially confirmed Ebola death toll stands at nearly 5,000 since its outbreak in March. Eight of the deaths were in Nigeria, which has since been declared free of the disease by the World Health Organization.
