US institutions to mentor West African cocoa researchers

The United States Department of Agriculture and the Washington-based World Cocoa Foundation are now receiving applications for the 2015 Borlaug Cocoa Fellowships.

The fellowships are reserved for scientists in Cameroon, Ghana, Ivory Coast and Nigeria to research genomics, genetics and breeding, plant propagation methods, entomology, soil fertility and plant nutrition, agroforestry and climate Change.

The fellows will work with a mentor at a US research institute for 12 weeks. The mentor will, in turn, visit the fellow’s home institution.
