The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases in the US has launched a centre of excellence in bioinformatics in Mali, with support from private companies and not-for-profit organisations.
The centre was launched in April and will enable researchers to do cutting-edge research in bioinformatics, NIAID said in a statement.
It will also offer training and mentorship for researchers who want to conduct bioinformatics research as well as help develop an autonomous community of specialists in the region.
