Tetfund-backed medical research centre opens in northern Nigeria

Usmanu Danfodiyo University in Sokoto, Northern Nigeria, has launched a 300 million Naira (US$950,000) medical research centre backed by the country’s Tertiary Education Trust Fund.

The Centre for Advanced Medical Research and Training was launched by Abdullahi Baffa, Tetfund executive secretary, on 10 June, The Vanguard reports.

According to Baffa, the centre houses facilities for urology and nephrology, and responds to a growing need for medical research capacity in the north of the country.
