Nigeria’s Tertiary Education Trust Fund is trialling a new system it hopes can cut delays in universities accessing their funding allocations.
Tetfund allocates a set amount of funding for each university every year, which the university can then apply to use on a project-by-project basis.
Universities can’t apply for a new year’s allocation if allocations for previous years have not been claimed and properly accounted for. As a result, a lot of funding has remained unclaimed over the years.
