A call for a variety of dedicated bodies to grant research funds in Nigeria instead of channelling all finance through the Tertiary Education Trust Fund was made during the country’s Next Einstein Forum Africa Science Week.
The call was made at the 29 June launch of the science week, an event backed by the African Institute for Mathematical Sciences in partnership with Germany’s Robert Bosch Stiftung, at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.
According to Nigerian NEF ambassador Olatunbosun Sojinu, a specific body or institute responsible for giving out research grants should be created instead of it being lumped with Tetfund.
