Ghana oil company offers $1.5m in science scholarships

The Ghana National Petroleum Corporation is offering US$1.5 million to fund science, technology, engineering and mathematics studies in the country.

The fund was announced on 16 August at the second International Conference on Engineering, Science, Technology and Entrepreneurship held in Kumasi, Ghana.

Kofi Koduah Sarpong, chief executive of the GNPC, said that half the money would be earmarked for women. The other half would sponsor 1,000 students in the country’s universities.
