One of Senegal’s best-known researchers has won the top annual prize from the European and Developing Countries Clinical Trials Partnership.
Souleymane Mboup won the Pascoal Mocumbi Prize worth €50,000 (US$58,000), the partnership announced on 28 September.
The prize is awarded to a senior scientist, policymaker or advocate for health awareness or research. Mboup is based at Cheikh Anta Diop University in Dakar. He was part of the team that discovered the HIV-2 virus and has published more than 250 academic papers.
