University of Ghana elects woman as new chancellor

The University of Ghana has announced Mary Chinery-Hesse as chancellor-elect, to succeed Kofi Annan who retires in July this year.

Her professional experience include serving on the National Council for Higher Education in the late 1970s, co-chairing the National Development Planning Commission from 2001 to 2009, and advising former president John Kufuor from 2006 to 2009.
