Ghana’s president Nana Akufo-Addo and two other world leaders have called on global health bodies to come up with a unified plan to better implement the Sustainable Development Goals.
Akufo-Addo, German chancellor Angela Merkel and Norwegian prime minister Erna Solberg penned the joint letter to Tedros Adhanom Gebreyesus, the director-general of the World Health Organization.
They recommended that international health bodies like UNAIDS, the World Bank and the Global Fund to Fight Aids, Tuberculosis and Malaria be “brought together to streamline their efforts”. The WHO should guide this process by drawing up a plan for presentation to world leaders at the World Health Summit in Berlin, Germany, in October.
