
A plant pathologist from Burkina Faso is to be the next chair of the governing board of the International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics.
Paco Sereme will take the helm at the ICRISAT on 1 October. The institute is part of the CGIAR consortium with headquarters in India and regional centres in in Kenya and Mali, as well as country representatives in Ethiopia, Malawi, Niger, Nigeria and Zimbabwe.
Sereme is the research director at the Institute of Environmental and Agricultural Research in Burkina Faso. He is a former executive director of the West and Central African Council for Agriculture Research and Development.
