Murdoch University in Western Australia is to lead an international research project to improve gender equity for women working on Vietnam’s coffee farms.

The Perth-based university has received a $240,000 federal government grant to work with humanitarian aid organisation CARE to support equal opportunity for women involved in agriculture in remote areas of north-west Vietnam.

The project will be led by development anthropologist Rochelle Spencer, who is based at the university’s centre for responsible citizenship and sustainability; and Jane Hutchison, who chairs the Asia research centre’s international studies programme.
