Cocoa producers from Bougainville in Papua New Guinea are to work with some of Australia’s leading makers of hand-crafted chocolate as part of a $6-million federally funded research programme at the University of Sydney.
The project, set up in 2016, aims to improve the profitability of PNG community cocoa farms and to expand their access to global markets.
It is funded by the Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research and the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade in partnership with the PNG government.
