South Korea deal opens way for Australian colleges

Australia can set up tertiary training colleges in South Korea under a deal signed by federal industry minister Ian Macfarlane and the Korean labour minister Lee Ki-Kweon.

The agreement was reached in Seoul in 7 November, and will allow Australia and South Korea to develop technical standards and qualifications that will be recognised by both countries.

Speaking at the official ceremony, Macfarlane said that South Korea’s rapidly expanding technical skills markets was an opportunity for Australian training colleges involved in international education.
