Scholarships aim to put more women on boards

The Victorian government has almost tripled the number of annual scholarships for women wanting to gain the skills needed to serve on corporate, community and government boards.

The move follows the introduction of a package of state gender equality reforms by premier Daniel Andrews in December 2016. They included a pledge to increase the number of women appointed to boards in Victoria.

The Andrews government has now launched a Women’s Board Leadership programme, which offers 100 scholarships for women to improve their administrative capabilities through courses, workshops and mentoring.
