Battery tech could ‘revolutionise’ solar energy

Federal science minister Arthur Sinodinos announced a $2 million federal grant for research into battery storage technology at the University of Queensland in Brisbane.

Sinodinos also used the occasion to emphasise the Turnbull government’s commitment to technology that could “revolutionise battery storage” for renewable energy such as industrial-scale solar arrays.

The grant is part of the federal Cooperative Research Centre-Projects programme, which was introduced in 2016 to provide funding for industry-led research initiatives.
