Deakin to work on ABS data systems upgrade

The Australian Bureau of Statistics has signed a deal with Deakin University in regional Victoria as part of a $257 million programme to improve its data collection systems.

Announcing the agreement with the National Centre for Data Acquisition on 6 July in Geelong, ABS chief executive David Kalisch said it will give the federal agency access to world-class data technology.

“We are always looking at ways to enhance our work,” he said. “This agreement with Deakin University will allow us to produce more technologically advanced, cost-effective, timely and concise data.”
