The Queensland government needs to prevent further environmental damage to coastal catchments from rapid urban development, one of the state’s leading ecologists says.
Daryl McPhee, who is based at Bond University on the Queensland Gold Coast, has written an environmental history of Moreton Bay in the state’s south-east.
In a brief statement, McPhee said that Environmental History and Ecology of Moreton Bay traces the Indigenous history of the region, the impacts of European settlement and the bay’s rich biodiversity. He was inspired to write the book after spending 30 years fishing and conducting marine research in Moreton Bay.
