Justice reforms based on Griffith research

Griffith University criminologist Lacey Schaefer has designed a probation and parole supervision model that could reduce Queensland’s reoffending rates by almost 30 per cent.

She has developed an “environmental corrections” method that focuses on reducing the opportunity for criminal activities as well as the propensity to offend.

Schaefer is based at Griffith’s north Brisbane campus and has published widely on criminal rehabilitation systems.
