Machine and software artist to lead creative innovation at QUT

Louis-Philippe Demers, a Canadian artist who uses robotics in installations and stage productions, is to join Queensland University of Technology’s creative industries faculty.

Demers will take up the role of professor of creative innovation in 2019 and will also be director of the QUT Creative Lab in Brisbane.

His work combines robotics, lighting and stage design to create interactive environments for festivals, museums, theatre productions and art installations. One of his recent works, Inferno, was inspired by Dante Alighieri’s vision of the circles of hell and will be performed in Brisbane in November.
