ANU hit by homophobia reports

The Australian National University’s vice-chancellor Brian Schmidt has appealed to staff and students to take a stand against “homophobic bullying” at its Canberra campus.

In an online editorial, Schmidt stressed the need to “call out bad behaviour when we see it” and support LGBTIQ students and staff.

His appeal follows news reports that a gay ANU student was forced to leave a residential college after enduring months of anonymous threats and abuse.
