Companies that appoint more women to their boards are less likely to be sued for breaching environmental regulations, a University of Adelaide study has found.
Chelsea Liu, a lecturer at the university’s business school, looked at almost 2,000 lawsuits involving 1,500 companies in the United States between 2000 and 2015.
She found that companies with gender-diverse boards were subject to significantly fewer environmental lawsuits, suggesting that women may contribute to reducing environmental litigation.
