Medicinal cannabis to be focus of initial research into treating breast cancer

 Federal education minister Dan Tehan has launched a $24 million research centre for medicinal agriculture products at La Trobe University in Melbourne.

The Australian Research Council MedAg Hub will focus on medicinal properties of plants, particularly medicinal cannabis and its potential to treat chronic diseases such as cancer. It involves nine research partners, including the University of Melbourne and Photon Systems Instruments, a technology company based in the Czech Republic.
