Wollongong gets green accolade for ‘living’ research centre

Energy-efficient building one of only 24 worldwide to win certification from Seattle institute

An engineering research centre at the University of Wollongong in regional New South Wales is Australia’s first building to receive global sustainability accreditation from one of the world’s most demanding green building certification systems.

The Sustainable Buildings Research Centre has met a list of performance criteria required by the International Living Future Institute in Seattle to gain a “living building” certification. It is one of 24 buildings in the world that have met the strict requirements.
