Deakin startup to commercialise recycled carbon fibre surfboard

Surfboards made from ‘waste material’ are a world first, university says

A startup business accelerator programme at Deakin University in regional Victoria is to help three science graduates commercialise the world’s first surfboards made from recycled carbon fibre material.

Aerospace engineers Filip Stojcevski and Andreas Hendlmeier have worked with organic chemist James Randall to design a high-performance surfboard from material that is usually discarded as waste.
