Sydney plant scientists to help create Indigenous grains industry

Researchers and community leaders plan NSW grains industry based on local seeds and grasses

The University of Sydney is working with six Indigenous communities in western New South Wales to create a local grains industry based on plants that are endemic to Australia.

Researchers from the university’s plant breeding institute recently met Gamilaraay communities at a workshop in Narrabri to discuss the commercial viability of a grains industry based on harvesting local seeds and grasses.
