Almost 60 per cent of Australians do not understand that the country’s water supplies are limited and only 46 per cent appreciate the role of water catchments, according to a Cooperative Research Centre survey.
More than 5,000 people took part in the online survey conducted by the CRC for Water Sensitive Cities to investigate public awareness of water management and conservation.
The survey was conducted by University of Queensland social sciences research fellow Kelly Fielding, and the findings were published on 28 April in the CRC report, A National Survey of Australia’s Water Literacy and Water-Related Attitudes.
