One of Australia’s leading urban water management experts has asked the federal government to clarify and broaden its definition of “industry” as a research partner.
The chief executive of the $120 million Cooperative Research Centre for Water Sensitive Cities, Tony Wong, has questioned the findings of a federal review of the CRC programme which recommends putting industry “front and centre” of national research policy.
In an editorial posted on his CRC’s website, Wong says that without a clear definition of industry, “the tone of the report suggests that this shift in focus in directed exclusively towards the private sector”.
