Vision CRC among nation’s top inventors

A federal patent analysis has named the Vision Cooperative Research Centre as one of Australia’s leading inventors of medical technologies.

The CRC, which is based at the University of NSW in Sydney, has generated millions in global royalties from 33 patents for technologies such as soft contact lenses, optical imaging devices and instruments for eye surgery.

The report, by Intellectual Property Australia, also lists the CRC’s chief scientist Arthur Ho as one of the country’s top five inventors of medical devices. Ho is named on more than 60 issued patents and published applications.
