A national cybersecurity research centre has launched a technology startup to provide improved counterterrorism warning systems for police and national security agencies.
The Data to Decisions Cooperative Research Centre developed the spinout company, Fivecast, from a two-year cyberintelligence project called Beat the News.
The project used freely available data such as news reports, social media trends and global food prices to map likely threats linked to political unrest, criminal activity or terrorism.
