Pyne hails first of ‘several’ Defence industry CRCs

Defence science minister Christopher Pyne has announced a $50 million national research centre to develop robotic systems for Australia’s defence forces.

Pyne said the Cooperative Research Centre for Trusted Autonomous Systems will be the first of several Defence CRCs to be set up under an expansion of the federal research programme.

He said the CRC will work on developing “unmanned platforms that ensure reliable and effective cooperation between people and machines during dynamic military operations”.
