Leading defence technology companies and more than 12 universities across Australia are to be partners in a $235-million national space industry research centre at the University of South Australia in Adelaide.
The Cooperative Research Centre for Smart Satellite Technologies and Analytics—to be known as the SmartSat CRC—is the country’s biggest R&D collaboration to date on remote sensing and advanced communications systems.
Funding for the CRC was announced in Adelaide on 15 April by Karen Andrews, federal minister for industry, innovation and science. The government has contributed $55m and CRC research partners have pledged $190m.
