Call for research project proposals as bushfires rage and demands on volunteers ‘become more extreme’

The early and “ferocious” start to Australia’s 2019-20 summer bushfire season has raised questions about the long-term health and economic impacts for volunteer firefighters, according to a national disaster research centre.

The Bushfire and Natural Hazards Cooperative Research Centre has warned that demands on volunteers are “becoming more extreme” and increased support is needed.
