AU$4m for university teaching and learning

The federal government has awarded grants and fellowships worth a combined AU$4 million to support collaborative university projects aimed at improving teaching and learning in higher education institutions.

Support has been given to projects that seek to foster engagement in science and maths learning and teaching and to projects that seek to boost learning outcomes for at-risk students. Work to investigate how regional higher education institutions can increase cooperation with technical and further education campuses has also received funding.

The government will fund ten Office for Learning and Teaching (OLT) fellowships, valued at AU$1.4m, and 21 OLT grants worth AU$2.7m involving 14 institutions, it was announced on 20 June.

Funding comes from the government’s AU$38.8bn commitment to teaching and learning over the next four years.
