One in five jobs will go at Australia’s national research agency over the next 2 years, with losses worse than originally forecast, according to a report by its staff union.
By the end of June 2015, the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation will have lost 1,391 jobs over a 2-year period, which amounts to a 21.5 per cent staff cut, the report says.
Mining, land and water management sciences, digital technology and manufacturing are the hardest hit, with 273 jobs to be lost from 136 research projects.
