Eco-thriller author to head ocean research centre

Canadian hydrologist, research manager and popular crime author Paul Hardisty has been appointed chief executive of the Australian Institute of Marine Sciences in northern Queensland.

Hardisty will take up the five-year appointment on 24 July and will be based at the AIMS head office at Port Ferguson, near Townsville.

He was previously director of the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation’s land and water research division from July 2014 to March 2017.
