The Turnbull government has flagged major changes to Australia’s marine parks in a series of draft plans that propose to reduce protected areas by almost 20 per cent.
The government is calling for public comment on the five plans which were published on 21 July by federal agency Parks Australia.
The plans have angered conservationists and tourism operators who claim the government is “pandering” to commercial fisheries.
