Australia’s higher education regulator has published draft guidelines on student “wellbeing and safety” following a national report revealing high rates of sexual assault and harassment at universities.
The Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency says it will “expect to see evidence” that all higher education providers are taking action to ensure the safety of students.
The TEQSA guidelines say that staff and students “should be clearly advised that the provider will take a zero-tolerance approach to sexual assault and sexual harassment and other forms of harmful misconduct”.
