Birmingham commits to Australian national space agency

Australia will set up its own space agency, with South Australia likely to play a major role in research and manufacturing.

The initiative was announced on 25 September by federal education minister Simon Birmingham to more than 4,000 delegates attending the opening of the International Astronautical Congress in Adelaide.

“The case for establishing an Australian space agency is compelling,” Birmingham told the meeting.
